Transposing

Transposing is simply changing from one key to another. Sometimes you can do it in your head (just raising every note two frets), sometimes you can do it with a capo without really thinking about it, and sometimes you can do it by translating to numbers and then going into another key.

If you need to transpose something tediously by hand, the easiest way is to figure out what the underlying scale is and then change the notes to numbers. That way, if you need to change to another key later, you’re halfway finished.
