My baby said she's leaving I said, "Goodbye."
I thought that I would miss her, Lord I don't know why.
She left town, it didn't bring me down
I guess I can't get the blues no more.

My dog just died. Hit by a truck.
A ninety dollar dog I'm just shit out of luck.
I lost my hound, it didn't bring me down
I guess I can't get the blues no more.

I couldn't get a job so I went out for hire.
When I came home that's when I saw the fire.
My house burned down, it didn't bring me down
I guess I can't get the blues no more.

I found a new girl.  I took her on the lake.
The boat started sinking as I put on the make.
The girl got drowned, it didn't bring me down
I guess I can't get the blues no more.

I wanted some pot so I could get high.
I gave a hundred dollars to a really cool guy.
If no quarter-pound didn't bring me down
you know I can't get the blues no more.

I dropped my banjo.  Broke all the strings.
If I don't get some more then I can't play a thing.
I lost my sound it didn't bring me down
I know I can't get the blues no more.
