Hard Maple

There's a hard maple tree deep in the forest,
deep in the forest where the hard maples grow.
Long, cold winters grow long, tall maple trees.
Gotta be cold where the hard maples grow.

It takes a hundred years to grow a hard maple
into a mighty tree from a sprout in the ground.
But there's not a lot of hard maple trees around;
it only takes a little while to cut one down.

Walking through the woods to the hard maple
until I find the leaves of the hard maple tree.
Gotta walk and walk and keep on walking.
It's a long ways to the hard maple trees.
