When the Saints Go Marching In

Here’s another song that’s already been covered.

The earlier progression was this (similar to She’ll Be Coming Around the Mountain).

You start counting on the word “saints” and each stroke or chord stands for two beats.

I / / / | / / V / | I / IV / | I V I /

ch: Oh when the saints go marching in,
oh when the saints go marching in,
I want to be in that number
when the saints go marching in.

Here’s another chord progression for that song. Because the final measure uses a different chord on every beat, I’ve doubled the number of strokes:

I / / / / / / / | / / / / V / / / |

I / I7 / IV / IVm / | I VIm IIm V7 I / / / |

Here is the chord progression in some common keys:

C / / / / / / / | / / / / G / / / |

C / C7 / F / Fm / | C Am Dm G7 C / / / |

D / / / / / / / | / / / / A / / / |

D / D7 / G / Gm / | D Bm Em A7 D / / / |

G / / / / / / / | / / / / D / / / |

G / G7 / C / Cm / | G Em Am D7 G / / / |

A / / / / / / / | / / / / E / / / |

A / A7 / D / Dm / | A F#m Bm E7 A / / / |
